There is so very little for you to worry about

“He suffers more than necessary, who suffers before it is necessary.”
Lucius Annaeus Seneca
Stoic Philosopher

We spend a lot of our time worrying about the future, the place that does not even exist. By doing so we miss the space in our minds and the present moment. We think the more we worry, the more prepared we will be. Of course, it is sensible to plan and prepare for the future, but when we live the future in the present and are consumed for hours and days by a future that does not exist, then we are not living at all, in fact we are missing life. When we do this we are not planning and preparing ourselves for a future event, we are worrying about something that has not happened. To do so, is to suffer, when there is no suffering.

The future will always be unknown. It is only in the present moment that it will become known. There will always be uncertainty and that’s okay. In the words of John Allen Paulos, Professor of Mathematics, “Uncertainty is the only certainty there is”. So let us embrace it because no matter how much you think about the future, you will never know it, for the simple reason it does not exist!

When all your mind wants to do is worry about the future, let there be space in your mind instead and come to know how very little there is for you to worry about. It will guide you and give you reprieve, so that you don’t have to spend so much of your time and energy worrying. The space in your mind does not know how to let you down. It only knows the most optimum path for you at any single moment. Fall into its’ embrace. It is warm, peaceful, protective and free from worry.

Make a little space in your mind.

When there is space in your mind, you see things as they are, not as you think they are

When there is space in your mind, you see things clearly, as they are, without thought, without language, without imagery. You are clear, focused and guided by intuition. Here there is no thought, there is only space and it knows only the most optimum path for you, in any single moment.  Your mind may disagree and that’s okay, let it, that’s what it does. Trust that which is greater than thought. Trust the space in your mind where all thought happens, so that the empty space can deliver the thought that serves you best.  You will know this thought as having arisen from the space in your mind because you will be at peace with it. A thought about yourself or your life that you’re at peace with, is a thought that originates from the space in your mind. It originates from YOU. Know it. Trust it. Act on it.

Let there be space in your mind. After all it is who you are.

In the digital age of social media, we need space in our minds more than ever

In the digital age of social media, we are bombarded by constant communications. We are gorging on the thoughts of others’, injected into our minds, every few  minutes or hours a day. This isn’t just information overload, but a communications overload of other peoples’ thoughts, opinions, images, videos, ideas, philosophies, beliefs, values etc.  Some of these communications may be good for you, some bad, but for the purpose of this post, it doesn’t really matter. What does matter, is that now more than ever we need to regularly create some space in our minds, so that our minds get a chance to breath throughout the day.

Yet time is of the essence in an age where everything is moving at the speed of light and we are left with less and less time. Meditation and mindfulness take time and discipline. It may only be 10 or 15 minutes a day, but when you’re time poor, committing to it everyday isn’t always easy. Yet the space in your mind is yours anytime, anywhere, anyhow you choose it. It takes nothing from your day at all. It’s meditation on the go.  Simple, easy, effortless and at your fingertips. Perfect for our Digital Age.

As you go through your day, create space in your mind, as and when you choose, even if it’s just for a few seconds at a time. It will feel refreshing, like a mental mini-break!

Make a little space in your mind and take a mental breather.

Is it really worth meditating for just a few seconds?

Meditating for just a few seconds at a time is easy and effortless, giving you regular reprieve from your thoughts, throughout the day. That’s totally worth it!

If you choose at any given moment to let there be space in your mind for just a few seconds, that kind of commitment is easy to find. What excuse could you ever come up with for not letting there be space in your mind for a few seconds, anytime, anywhere you chose?

There is no pressure, no planning, no organising or even feelings of guilt for not being able to commit to 10 minutes a day or feeling deflated because you weren’t able to quieten your mind that particular day for much of the time when you sat down to meditate.

You are totally in control. You do it when you chose to and for as long as you chose to. A few seconds is more than enough if that is what you chose in that moment.

You see it’s not the quantity of time that is important, but the quality of space in your mind and even a few seconds of space is both powerful and valuable to your life.

As you do this at your own pace and choosing, it becomes easier to do more of it and for longer and gradually without much effort at all you will be creating space in your mind for 10 or more minutes a day, without ever sitting down to formally meditate, giving you peace all throughout the day.

Let there be space in your mind.

If you are in a situation that is not good for your wellbeing, let the space in your mind guide you out of it

If you are in a situation that is not good for your wellbeing, let there be space in your mind and it will guide you out of it.

At this time don’t seek thought to help you, seek space. If only for a few seconds at a time, let there be space in your mind, where there is the thought about what is happening. It will give you peace when you need it most.

It is from this space that the thought to help you out of the situation, will arise. You will know this thought as having arisen out of the space in your mind because you will be at peace with it, all of it, even the uncertainty of it. If you are not at peace with the thought, it has not originated from you. So go back to space, for it knows only the most optimum life for you and will show you the way out.  It will give you freedom and peace first in your mind and then in your physical situation. Let space be your guiding light.

Make a little space in your mind.

This isn’t about spirituality, God or self-help. It’s not even about meditation or mindfulness. It is about who you are

This isn’t about spirituality, God or self-help. It’s not even about meditation or mindfulness.  This is about who you are. The power that is in your mind when there is no thought. This power is pure energy. The sort that creates beyond all knowledge.

This energy is nothing less than MAGNIFICENT. It is who YOU are.

Let there be space in your mind. It has the intelligence to do the rest so that you may live your most optimum life, without thinking about how to be better.

If it were not for the thoughts in your mind, you would already know yourself as greatness.

Make a little space in your mind and come to know how powerful you really are.

Knowing yourself as space and not thought, can be daunting and yet so exhilarating

At first, it can be scary to think that we are not our thoughts. That who we think we are is not who we are at all. It is scary because it begs the ultimate question ‘if I am not my thinking, then who am I?’ It is then doubly scary to know yourself only as space, a silent emptiness, that is alive with energy. This can be too much for the thinking mind to grasp, but think not and you will know the emptiness of space as yourself, totally full.

When I first took my mind back to what caused the easy and effortless changes to happen in my life, I could not accept that the space that I had touched, in what I can only call another realm, was where it all started. (see my first post). ‘Space?” I kept saying to myself. “Please! I mean really?! There’s got to be a better explanation than that”. I searched for something more concrete, something I could understand. Perhaps it was a book I had read, a seminar I had attended, a conversation or an experience I had. How could it be ‘space’ that changed my world with such ease? I had made no constructive effort to improve my life, yet my life was improving in all areas quite easily, effortlessly and it was all happening in my stride. It had made no sense.

However, I continued to reject the power of space because it was hard to grasp. It was only when I tried not to grasp it, with thought, that I knew it to be true, without doubt. The power of the space in your mind has its roots deep in our history, dating back thousands of years and now backed by developments in neuroscience, it is at the forefront of our minds. This space is pure energy, pure life and pure intelligence. It lacks nothing because it is everything.

Let there be space in your mind. It is not scary because you don’t have to understand it, make sense of it, explain it or describe it. You simply have to let it be and it will do the rest.

How easy, simple and effortless. How could it be anything else? It is who you are and who you are has never been a conundrum. Why would it be?  You would never play such trickery on yourself. The thoughts that you think however would.

Let there be space in your mind and your thinking will know you as its’ Master. You, the Master will know freedom and peace as it is. Living from here is nothing less than exhilarating.

Let there be space in your mind.

Without space what could there even be?

Where you are sitting or standing, you could not sit or stand, if there were not the space for you to do so.

If it were not for the space around which your home is built, there would be nowhere for you to live.

If it were not for the space through which the ocean flows, there would be no ocean, for where would it flow?

If it were not for the space in your mind, there would be nowhere for your thoughts to be.

Let there be space in your mind. It is from here that your own thought is created. Thought that originates from who you are. You will know this thought as having originated from you because you will at peace with it, all of it, even its’ uncertainty.

Let the space guide you to action that you are at peace with.
Be free in your actions. Be at peace with your actions. Be magnificent in your actions.

The thoughts that you’ve learnt about yourself are not who you are

There is nothing you need to learn to be who you already are. Yet much of who we think we are are,  has been learnt.

We learn who we ‘think’ we are from the most significant relationships we have in our lives, especially those we formed in childhood with our parents or caregivers. These tend to provide the blueprint for all our subsequent relationships and how we see ourselves. Combine that with the relationships we have with the super structures in our society i.e. education, family, religion, media, law, politics and economics and we come to learn what and how to think about who we are.

But you cannot learn who you are, you can only be who you are. When you learn something, it means it sits outside of you, that is how you can learn it. You cannot learn that which is intrinsically you, you can only be it. So what you have learnt about who you are, is just that, learnt and not who you are. There was nothing you had to learn to be born as you and there is nothing you need to learn to be who you already are.

Let there be space in your mind and you will know who you are instead of learning who you think you are.
