How many thoughts do you need to think to make the most out of your day?

On an average day, roughly what percentage of your thinking is redundant, unhelpful, unhealthy and repetitive? In other words, thoughts that are not necessary for you to make the most out of your day.

And on an average day, roughly what percentage of your thinking is productive and helpful, so that you can achieve the most from your day?

Don’t get caught up working out these percentages, a rough estimate is enough.

Is your redundant, unhelpful, unhealthy and repetitive thinking greater than your productive and helpful thinking?  If so, this is time better spent having space in your mind, rather than thought in your mind. Instead of giving these negative thoughts your time and energy, just be present with what is. Whatever you are doing, stay with it. Be with the activity, people, place, food, drink, fresh air etc. whatever it is be present with it. This will create space in your mind, allowing any unproductive thinking to fall away.

After all, you don’t need to think anymore because you already know how much thinking is necessary to help you achieve the maximum from your day. Any more thinking is literally a waste of space, but worse still, these unhelpful thoughts get in the way of your productive thoughts, slowing down your daily progress.

So stop gorging on those thoughts that are standing in the way of you making the most of your day. Remember the percentage of productive thoughts you said you needed to think, in order to make the most out of your day? Well that’s all you need, most probably even less than that.

Be more, think less. Make the most of your day.

Is it really worth meditating for just a few seconds?

Meditating for just a few seconds at a time is easy and effortless, giving you regular reprieve from your thoughts, throughout the day. That’s totally worth it!

If you choose at any given moment to let there be space in your mind for just a few seconds, that kind of commitment is easy to find. What excuse could you ever come up with for not letting there be space in your mind for a few seconds, anytime, anywhere you chose?

There is no pressure, no planning, no organising or even feelings of guilt for not being able to commit to 10 minutes a day or feeling deflated because you weren’t able to quieten your mind that particular day for much of the time when you sat down to meditate.

You are totally in control. You do it when you chose to and for as long as you chose to. A few seconds is more than enough if that is what you chose in that moment.

You see it’s not the quantity of time that is important, but the quality of space in your mind and even a few seconds of space is both powerful and valuable to your life.

As you do this at your own pace and choosing, it becomes easier to do more of it and for longer and gradually without much effort at all you will be creating space in your mind for 10 or more minutes a day, without ever sitting down to formally meditate, giving you peace all throughout the day.

Let there be space in your mind.

Nature is your portal to the space in your mind

Nature is your portal to the space in your mind. It will take you there when you can’t get there on your own. This is because nature is more connected to space, than we are; for the simple reason that nature does not think. Its’ second by second evolution is nothing less than spectacular and it happens without a single thought.

When you choose to create space in your mind, focus on nature.  Give nature your undivided attention, without thought. Watch it, hear it, feel it, smell it and observe its’ movement. Let go of the need to use words to describe it, just simply observe it. This will help create space in your mind.

Let us all create a little more space in our minds, so that we may know how truly spectacular we are.

Space is everywhere and without it nothing could be

The sounds that you hear travel through space, so that they can be heard.
The lights that you see travel through space so that they can be seen.
The aromas that you smell are carried through space so that they can be smelt.

Space is everywhere and without it nothing could be. The sounds, lights and smells could not reach your ears, eyes or nose, without space.
It is the nothing through which everything becomes.

Let there be space in your mind and become all that you know you already are, beyond thought.

Knowing yourself as space and not thought, can be daunting and yet so exhilarating

At first, it can be scary to think that we are not our thoughts. That who we think we are is not who we are at all. It is scary because it begs the ultimate question ‘if I am not my thinking, then who am I?’ It is then doubly scary to know yourself only as space, a silent emptiness, that is alive with energy. This can be too much for the thinking mind to grasp, but think not and you will know the emptiness of space as yourself, totally full.

When I first took my mind back to what caused the easy and effortless changes to happen in my life, I could not accept that the space that I had touched, in what I can only call another realm, was where it all started. (see my first post). ‘Space?” I kept saying to myself. “Please! I mean really?! There’s got to be a better explanation than that”. I searched for something more concrete, something I could understand. Perhaps it was a book I had read, a seminar I had attended, a conversation or an experience I had. How could it be ‘space’ that changed my world with such ease? I had made no constructive effort to improve my life, yet my life was improving in all areas quite easily, effortlessly and it was all happening in my stride. It had made no sense.

However, I continued to reject the power of space because it was hard to grasp. It was only when I tried not to grasp it, with thought, that I knew it to be true, without doubt. The power of the space in your mind has its roots deep in our history, dating back thousands of years and now backed by developments in neuroscience, it is at the forefront of our minds. This space is pure energy, pure life and pure intelligence. It lacks nothing because it is everything.

Let there be space in your mind. It is not scary because you don’t have to understand it, make sense of it, explain it or describe it. You simply have to let it be and it will do the rest.

How easy, simple and effortless. How could it be anything else? It is who you are and who you are has never been a conundrum. Why would it be?  You would never play such trickery on yourself. The thoughts that you think however would.

Let there be space in your mind and your thinking will know you as its’ Master. You, the Master will know freedom and peace as it is. Living from here is nothing less than exhilarating.

Let there be space in your mind.

Let there be more space in your mind and fewer thoughts

The more regularly you create space in your mind, the more space you will have in your mind overall. The key is to allow yourself to let there be space in your mind as often as you can throughout the day.  Even a few seconds at a time is enough.

Unlike traditional meditation, you don’t have to create space in your mind for a chunk of time once a day, but instead give your mind regular mini breaks as you go through your day. This is meditation on the go. It does not confine you to a physical space nor to a set amount of time. When, where and for how long you meditate (create space in your mind) is entirely up to you. There are no rules. There is only space in your mind, as and when you chose.

Also because the space in your mind is more powerful than thought, it becomes easier to maintain that space once created. This is because thought loses some of it strength in the face of space; so space rather than thought becomes dominant. Also, regularly grabbing seconds or minutes of tranquility here and there throughout your day means you are continuously creating space in your mind.  It is not just pushed to the beginning or end of your day.  In fact every time you do it, it is because at that moment you are choosing to do because you want it or need it most.

You only need a few thoughts in your mind to help you achieve what you wish in a day. The rest of your thinking is often redundant and repetitive and can be quietened by the space in your mind.

Gradually you begin to move towards having more space in your mind and fewer thoughts. This is true freedom. It is also absolute peace. To be all that you are, freedom and peace is all that is needed. Anything else is helpful.

Let there be space in your mind.

Meditating in the 21st Century – there are no rules

It’s dated to think that we can only meditate in a quiet room, with our eyes closed, sitting lotus position for at least 10 minutes. Let’s revive some of these pearls of wisdom of the last 2500 years and bring them into sync with the speed and efficiency of the digital age.

You can choose at any given moment in time, to have even a few seconds of no thinking. That would be you meditating. It is not the quantity of time spent meditating, but the quality of space you have in your mind. Even a few seconds of that space is worth more than ten positive thoughts or 10 minutes of forcing your mind to let go of thoughts as you sit lotus position.

Let there be space in your mind, anytime you choose and for as long as you choose. Meditate for seconds or minutes, here and there, as you go through your day. This is meditating in the 21st century. There are no rules there is only space in your mind anytime you choose.
